Switzerland

The age to be an au pair in Switzerland must be between 17 and 30 years old at most. 
Working hours must not exceed 30 per week and  5 hours per day.
The host family must give to the au pair at least one and a half days off per week and one Sunday off per month. The au pair is entitled to at least 4 weeks of vacation per year.
It is compulsory to attend a language course of at least 4 hours weekly. 50% of the course fees are paid by the host family as it is for the family to ensure the au pair against sickness and accident  at a  recognized insurance.

100% of the insurance's prizes against occupational accidents and 50% of other awards shall be paid by the family. The employer must register the au pair at the cantonal compensation for the payment of social contributions. In any case, the employer is entitled to retain 50% of social contributions on wages of the au pair. The au pairs are subject to tax. Withholding tax may withhold the salary of the au pair.
Travel costs are paid by the host family who must give to the au pair a monthly salary of between 650 and 750 Swiss francs net according to the regulations of the individual cantons, as well as board and free lodging.
The employment contract for an au pair is stipulated for the period of one year.

The au pair must always be registered with the Federal Office for Migration from which you can obtain the only official contract on au pair placement that is accepted in Switzerland.
Permission for stays as an au pair is granted without the need of a visa for  au pairs from EU and EFTA Member State. Are subject to visa requirement au pairs from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

EU citizens can enter Switzerland with the condition of being equipped with an identity card or a valid passport. To do a job as an au pair in Switzerland, every foreigner must have insurance residence permit and insurance work permit. The future host family must request such assurances from the competent cantonal employment office before the au pair  enters in Switzerland. To request these documents, the future host family must submit  to the  cantonal office of employment the application' s entry and the "Declaration of Taking an au pair' (" Erklärung zur Einstellung von Au-Pair-Angestellten). The au pair will be allowed to enter Switzerland after the Cantonal police of foreigners has issued a permit for that purpose. When the au pair arrives in Switzerland, the host family must enroll her at the Registry office of the place where she resides within 8 days after her arrival.
