
NETHERLANDS
The age to work as an au pair in Netherlands has to be between 18 and 25 years old.
The duration of the stay shall not exceed a year.
Working hours are a maximum of 8 hours per day and 30 per week
Pocket money is around 300-340 euro per month.
The au pair must have 2 days off per week and she is entitled of to 2 weeks of paid vacation every 12 months of job.
For periods of stay less than 12 months the family and the au pair must agree about the duration of the vacation.
The families must keep the girl during her stay in Holland and therefore they must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources.
Host families must have at least one minor child and they have to consist of at least 2 people, families with only one parent can host an au pair.
Who wants to be Au Pair for more 3 months must:
• have a valid passport
• have health insurance valid in Netherlands
• be unmarried
• not have been in possession of another residence in Netherlands
• not have worked as an au pair in the same host family
• not constitute a public risk
• live in the house of the host family
• deal with light housework
All citizens from EU Member States or EEA States ( it including that of the EU as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) do not need neither visa nor a permit of temporary residence (MVV).
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, USA, have no need of MVV. Who does not need a MVV can enter to Netherlands and obtain a residence permit in the town where she lives. EU and EEA citizens can apply for a certificate of legal residence (Bewijs van rechtmatig verblif).
Non-EU citizens who want to be au pairs over 3 months need a visa and a temporary residence permit.
