Dear Au Pair
We are a family of six (3 boys and 1 girl %u2013 Patrick, Matthew, James and Nikki and myself and my husband James). Patrick is 6 ( 27 Sept) , Matthew is 5 ( 15 Oct) , James is 3 and Nikki is 1.
Myself and James both work %u2013 James works full time and I work 3 days a week ( Mon %u2013 Wed). We also have a Polish nanny, Emily who comes to our house 4 days a week for 40 hours a week. However, Emily is going to Poland for 2 months from 14 July to 14 September 2009 as she is getting married. She will return mid-September.
We are looking for a mature au-pair who will help me for the two months while Emily is away and who will then help both myself and Emily when she returns mid-September. The duties will include minding the children and some light housework i.e. mainly cleaning the kitchen after the boys meals, some washing and ironing and general cleaning up after the children. We would normally require 30 to 35 hours per week plus 1 to 2 night%u2019s babysitting %u2013 1 night mid-week and 1 night at the week-end. However, while Emily is away we would require more hours that this but you would also be paid more. We can discuss all of this at a later stage if you are interested in the position.
The usual salary is %u20AC125 per week for 30-35 hours. However, as mentioned above this will be increased to at least %u20AC200-%u20AC250 while Emily is away.
The children are both full of life and love to play in the garden, go to the park, feed the ducks, play football, cycle their bikes, go swinmming, paint, read books etc. During the school term, Patrick and Matthew are in school in the mornings from 9am until 2pm and Jamsie from 9am until 12.30pm, Monday to Friday. During the summer, Patrick and Matthew will be in a camp during July and we will be on our holidays in an Irish seaside resort for 3 weeks in August.
We are looking for an au-pair who is outgoing, sporty, friendly and energetic and who loves children. In an ideal world, we would like an au-pair who is over 25, speaks a moderate level of English (may like to attend English classes), has some experience with children and is willing to come to Ireland for 3 or 6 or 12 months. It would also be an advantage if you have a driving licence. However, we would be willing to accept an au-pair that doesn%u2019t have all of these things!
We live in the suburbs of Dublin, close to the city centre. It is about a 30-minute walk to the city centre, 15 minutes on the bus and 15 minutes on the Luas line and there is a Luas station 5 minutes walk from our house. We have 5 bedrooms in the house so you would have your own bedroom which is small but has a TV and DVD player. There are 2 TV rooms downstairs, which means that you don%u2019t have to sit with us every evening if you don%u2019t want to! We are members of the local gym, which you will be able to attend as the children%u2019s nanny.
I think you would be very happy with our family. We are quite easy-going and would want you to be happy and have a good time while you are here. We love to spend time with the children at the weekends. Because we have 4 young children, we will need some help one day of the weekend - normally on a Saturday. With 30-35 hours, you would always have one day and night off at the weekend and one day off during the week.. You can also have some weekends off completely if you want to visit other places in Ireland.
While I am at work and Emily is with us, your work schedule would normally look something like this:
Monday %u2013 Off
Tuesday %u2013 8am to 2pm.
Wednesday %u2013 2pm to 5.30pm ( classes in the city are on a Monday and Wed night from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.)
Thursday %u2013 2pm to 7pm maybe babysit
Friday* %u2013 Most of the day with me.
Saturday* %u2013 10am %u2013 3pm.
Sunday - Off
*babysit Friday or Saturday depending on our/your plans
This would be different during the summer when Emily is away. I can%u2019t be sure of what your schedule will be like as it depends on how many days a week I am in work, the time of the boys summer camps, holidays etc..
As we have a summer house in Wexford ( a seaside resort) which is about 2 hours from Dublin and we normally spend 3 weeks there in July/August and then we plan to go for a lot of the week-ends during the summer. For some week-ends we would go alone with the kids and give you the week-end off in Dublin and for some of the week-ends we would like to you to come down with us. Sometimes if you have plans, you could come with us on a Thursday evening and go back to Dublin on the train on a Saturday evening to meet your friends.
If you are interested in coming to live with us an as Au-Pair, please send me a letter telling me all about your-self.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Maeve & James.
