The age to work as an au pair in Spain must be between 18 and 27 years old.
The au pair must not be married and she/he must not have children.
The duration of the contract have to be between 3 and 12 months.
Working hours amount to 30 per week plus 2 evenings of babysitting.
The au pair cannot  have holidays unless agreed with the family. However the au pair is entitled to have at least one day off per week.
Pocket money amounts around 200-250 euros per month.
Travel expenses are in charge of the au pairs.
The au pair must have the opportunity to attend a language course, however it is useful if he/she knows a bit  of Spanish.

EU citizens are covered by Social Health Security of Spain and they must be provided only the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

The non-EU au pairs must obtain information from competent Spanish authorities of the place about which type of health insurance enrolment should  be carried out.

EU citizens do not need a visa to enter in Spain, but  those who want to stay for more than 3 months must register with the Foreign Office.

Non-EU citizens can live in Spain as au pairs, but they are not allowed to work and they can not be paid. If they want to stay in Spain for more than three months they must apply for a visa to study Spanish at the Embassy in their Country and they must demonstrate sufficient financial means to maintain their self. To apply for a visa they must have a contract of employment as an au pair.
